Â鶹Éç disclosure: April to June 2009

Today the Â鶹Éç publishes the precise salaries and business-related expenses of the most senior decision-makers in the Corporation.

The Â鶹Éç will publish these details on a regular quarterly basis and today's information builds on the disclosures that the Corporation made in July 2009.

The Â鶹Éç has gone beyond any other public body in organising the data.

Rather than publishing spreadsheets, the details will be published on the About The Â鶹Éç section of the Â鶹Éç website: .

This section will offer specific information on each of the 107 senior managers in terms of leadership, financial and decision-making responsibility.

The web pages will go live at 10.00am on Thursday 12 November 2009.

The Â鶹Éç is at the vanguard of public disclosure and is committed to greater transparency to show how the Corporation both operates and delivers value for money in terms of the licence fee. As such, redactions have been kept to a minimum.

Of the 2,995 lines of information released today, around 1% of the information has been redacted. Where redactions have taken place this is because the information is personal or business-sensitive.

Caroline Thomson, Chief Operating Officer, Â鶹Éç, commented: "Today's quarterly disclosure is a significant move for the Â鶹Éç in our continued commitment to achieving ever greater openness and transparency to the public who pay for the Â鶹Éç.

"Today's launch is a direct response to the public who have indicated that they would like more information about how the Â鶹Éç is run in a way which marks a step change in openness, simplicity and accountability.

"We are meeting the spirit as well as the letter of the law."

At the end of October the Â鶹Éç Trust announced a series of measures the Â鶹Éç is undertaking with regard to its senior management.

The Â鶹Éç intends to cut its senior management pay bill by 25%, freeze current pay and bonuses for senior staff and reduce the total numbers of senior staff over a three-and-a-half year period.
