Â鶹Éç Academy appoints first Head of Editorial Standards

Su Pennington has been appointed to the new role of Head of Editorial Standards, Â鶹Éç Academy.

Reporting to Anne Morrison, Director Â鶹Éç Academy, Su will be responsible for integrating editorial standards training into all relevant parts of the Â鶹Éç Academy portfolio and for ensuring there is a framework enabling everyone working for the Â鶹Éç, including freelancers and independent producers working on Â鶹Éç commissions, to receive the appropriate editorial standards training.

Su will join the Â鶹Éç Academy for one year in January from Â鶹Éç Editorial Policy, where she is currently Head of Editorial Policy, Factual.

Having joined the Â鶹Éç as a journalist, Su worked as a news and education correspondent and on a range of high profile programmes, including The Today Programme, Newsnight and Panorama, before joining Editorial Policy.

Commenting on her appointment, Anne Morrison said: "Su's editorial judgement is second to none. It is a great coup for the Â鶹Éç Academy to attract someone of Su's outstanding reputation and experience to such a crucial role, leading Editorial Standards training for the benefit of the Â鶹Éç and the wider industry."

Su added: "I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Â鶹Éç Academy for a year. I have always been passionate about getting people the help and support they need to produce output that meets the highest of editorial standards.
