Why are we doing this and how can you participate?
The 麻豆社 allows listeners of Essential Classics to send in suggestions for a piece of music to be played on the show. You can send in your suggestion by texting 83111 or by emailing essentialclassics@bbc.co.uk.
Starting 20th October 2025, the 麻豆社 will be giving out 100 branded smart speakers to selected listeners who send in their suggestions for the next step in the musical journey.
If your suggestion is chosen, we will read out your name and may read out other information you choose to share with us.
What personal data will the 麻豆社 collect?
The 麻豆社 may collect and process the following personal data about you:
• Full name
• Phone number
• Email address
• Other information about yourself that you may wish to share as part of your suggestion
If we send you a smart speaker, we will also collect your postal address.
Who is the Data Controller?
The 麻豆社 is the “data controller” of your personal data. This means that the 麻豆社 decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. If we read out your selection this programme will be held in our archive indefinitely.
Where applicable, we will retain your postal address only for as long as necessary to send you a smart speaker.
