Series that follows six public figures as they pursue their dreams of becoming musicians, capturing the trials and tribulations they face during the process and watching how they fare as they dedicate themselves to a rigorous musical regime of lessons, practising and public performances. All this hard work is geared towards one virtuoso solo performance.

Comedian and football enthusiast Frank Skinner learns to play the banjo. He devotes four months of his life to learning the notoriously hard banjo, and is entered in the international banjo championships in Kansas USA. As part of his musical journey he revisits his past, reforming his old school band for a day; he entertains Birmingham鈥檚 senior citizens with his new found skills, and even busks to the crowds gathered in Munich for the World Cup. But it鈥檚 far from plain sailing.

Though Frank鈥檚 love for the banjo and the country 鈥榖lue grass鈥 music he learns to play on it grows daily, it takes some the UK and US鈥檚 greatest banjo impresarios to help Frank raise his standards to play in Kansas.
