Heather leaves Brookfield, but looks forward to returning when Ruth goes in for her operation. She's delighted when Shula and Jim come to see her off - especially when she sees that Jim has brought her a bunch of flowers.

Things go from bad to worse at the village hall, when Jason sees that Robert came into work late last night to paint over some of the walls - but has used the wrong paint. However, the two men bond when Shula and Jim pop into the hall to get an update on their progress and Jim starts criticising their work. Jason defends Robert, and in return, Robert covers up the fact that Jason has been smoking in the hall. Following the unspoken truce, the men agree to have a pub lunch tomorrow.

Shula tries to encourage Jim to think about leaving Ambridge - but is crushed when Jim doesn't take her hints, revealing instead that he's already arranged a hectic social diary for next week.
