What is it like growing up as a girl in Saudi Arabia, a country where women are educated separately, forbidden to drive cars and often prevented from working? HARDtalk speaks to Haifaa Al-Mansour, a Saudi film-maker and the country's first female director. In her film Wadjda, she captured the daily routines of Saudi life, seen through the eyes of a little girl who wants the simple freedom, permitted to the boys, to own and ride a bike.
