Penny Gore ends her week featuring the music of Hindemith (marking the 50th anniversary of his death) and Prokofiev with two of the greatest works by each composer. She completes the brand-new recorded cycle of Prokofiev's Piano Concertos, featuring the 麻豆社 Philharmonic and soloist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, with the epic No 2. And there's also music from Prokofiev's enduringly popular ballet score for 'Romeo and Juliet.' The two Hindemith works are a concerto for the instrument he championed most, both as performer and composer, and the powerful symphony he drew from his visionary opera 'Mathis der Maler'.
