Tony Hall, 麻豆社 Director General
Steve Hewlett talks to the director general of the 麻豆社, Tony Hall, on the future of funding, driving efficiency and how the organisation is governed.
The Director General of the 麻豆社, Tony Hall, has set out his plans for the "my 麻豆社" revolution; a more personal service that will use data to provide a more tailored experience for users, and enable the 麻豆社 to compete more effectively in the digital age. In a speech on Monday, he also spoke of his support for a proposed household levy to replace the current licence fee. In his first interview for The Media Show, Steve Hewlett talks to Tony Hall about his new strategy, and gets his views on how the organisation is funded, run, and governed. Steve asks him about the 'major changes' Tony Hall says are needed in order for the 麻豆社 to survive. They discuss what is being done to restore confidence in how the 麻豆社 is overseen, and whether Tony Hall has realised his ambition of creating a simpler, clearer organisation that offers the best value for money for licence fee payers. Also in the studio to discuss the main themes are Sir Michael Lyons, former Chairman of the 麻豆社 Trust; Samir Shar, Chief Executive of Juniper TV and former non-exec director of the 麻豆社; and Lis Howell, Director of Broadcasting at City University.
