Pause For Thought

Pause For Thought

From Reverend Sharon Grenham-Toze, Anglican Priest and Prison Chaplain:

It鈥檚 been a crazy but fab few weeks for me. I鈥檝e moved house, I鈥檝e been appointed Chaplain to the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire and also bought a lovely new boat which was launched last weekend.

It鈥檚 been so mad that the other great event has been a bit pushed to one side - but I鈥檝e suddenly realised - it鈥檚 less than 6 WEEKS to my wedding鈥尖悸

There鈥檚 a fair bit in place: the venue鈥檚 booked, catering mostly planned, and we鈥檝e had a wonderful time sampling the wine possibilities. The dress is nearly finished too, so really it鈥檚 only bits and bobs that I need to get sorted between now and then. I doubt I鈥檒l ever stick to a diet, so I鈥檝e counted that one out already鈥!

But it doesn鈥檛 matter how much forward planning goes into it, it鈥檚 still really difficult to get an idea of how things will go on the day. It鈥檚 still all in my head at the moment, and I鈥檓 just hoping that the reality will somehow look vaguely the way I imagined. There鈥檚 bound to be things I hadn鈥檛 thought of, possibly even a few things go wrong - but I know the most important thing is I鈥檓 committing the rest of my life to this really rather wonderful man who鈥檚 changed my life completely.

I鈥檝e been married before, so I know only too well that it鈥檚 not just a wedding day which sometimes doesn鈥檛 go as planned. Things in life don鈥檛 always turn out how you might imagine - in relationships, jobs, or any other important parts of our lives.

But my wedding day will the best and happiest way for me to live out the truth that it IS possible to have another chance; that we can go on learning and improving through the whole of our lives; and that sometimes life takes us totally by surprise, so we should never give up hoping. Who knows how life will turn out for Richard and me - but I can鈥檛 wait for it to start!
