Tom McKinney introduces a concert with the 麻豆社 Singers, conducted by Ragnar Bohin and recorded last weekend at St Giles, Cripplegate, as part of the 麻豆社 Symphony Orchestra Total Immersion series dedicated to Leonard Bernstein. The concert starts with Hashkiveinu for solo cantor, mixed chorus and organ; it's followed by his Missa Brevis for countertenor, chorus and percussion; then we hear Simchu Na for chorus and piano, Soldier's Song from The Lark for chorus and percussion, ending with his Chichester Psalms. This concert is followed by two tone poems performed by the 麻豆社 Symphony Orchestra; first, Judith Weir Heroic Strokes of the Bow, with conductor Martyn Brabbins at the helm, and then Vincent D'Indy's Istar, this time with the orchestra under the baton of Pascal Roph茅.
