The Welsh government is accusing the Farmers Union of Wales of misleading people over the consultation on farm payments after Brexit.

The Welsh Government is accusing the Farmers Union of Wales of misleading people over the consultation on farm payments after Brexit. Ministers in Cardiff have proposed phasing out direct payments for farmers from 2020 to be replaced by two new schemes but the FUW says it will cause widespread disruption. Steffan Messenger reports.

The Government has announced a new Seasonal Agricultural Worker pilot scheme allowing 2500 non-EU workers to help farmers during peak production. Charlotte Smith asks Nick Marston from British Summer Fruits which alone employs 29,000 seasonal workers whether the scheme goes far enough.

Mariclare Carey-Jones has been to meet Dr Peter Derby from the Wye Hops research centre who has been trialling new varieties of hops to provide an alternative to imported American hops which are much-loved by UK craft brewers.
