An irreverent, sideways look at the world of Scottish Football, from the top of the pile to the dogfights, the stars to the journeyman.
An irreverent, sideways look at the world of Scottish Football, hosted by Craig G Telfer, Joel Sked, Shaughan Mcguigan, Craig Fowler and Robert Borthwick, as well as a revolving subs bench of real fans who will be off around the country exploring the beautiful game and all its quirks and qualities.
A View from the Terrace will dissect the ins and outs of the Scottish footballing week just passed, and offer analysis and opinion in its own unique way. 鈥榃hy are they s***e now?鈥 will see the panel forthrightly attempt to offer reason and logic for why a team are currently taking a dip in form. 鈥楾he Boyata Index鈥 will have them plot the value of players on the 鈥楤oyata Index鈥, using a recent performance to value them against John Hartson鈥檚 exorbitant summer valuation of Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata of 拢50 million.
Looking at the action to come, the panel will showcase and dissect a team that are at a crucial juncture in their season in 鈥楩ork in The Road鈥 - or in 鈥楩uture Headlines鈥 they will make predictions on what will happen this weekend based upon imagined newspaper headlines, Twitter hot takes and forum meltdowns.
As well as the current season, the panel will also delve into Scotland's footballing history to make a case to enshrine a moment of Scottish football history, for future generations to feast upon in 鈥楾he Time Capsule鈥. Or reimagine Scottish football timelines to make a case for another universe where one small moment extrapolated out would bring about a very different football landscape.
They will debate the true talking points of Scottish Football in 鈥楽ee Ya Later Debater鈥 such as 鈥榃ill a Scottish player ever win the Ballon D'Or?鈥, or 鈥榃ill Celtic win every single competition in Scotland for eternity?鈥 They鈥檒l have a bit of fun playing 鈥楧id You Play For? trying to guess the Scottish football legend of yore sitting in front of them, answering the question 鈥榃ould you actually know Wayne Foster 30 years after his derby-winning goal?鈥.
Each week the panel will be joined by social media鈥檚 Robert Borthwick, a man known for his wit and whimsy on Twitter that riles and rallies fans of every club in equal measure. He鈥檒l present to the panel his favourite clips, comments, GIFS and antics from the world of social media whether that鈥檚 from fans, players, teams or managers. If it鈥檚 funny, silly or mad and it happened online Rob will know, and so will you.
As well as the studio, each week will see the show punctuated by a number of segments that will range from observational documentaries like 鈥楶ut A Shift In鈥 we send big hearted, wide-eyed, terrace regular and Scottish football diehard Duncan McKay to throw himself two-footed into a job around the matchday to see what life is like away from the glamour of the 90 minutes? Who is inside that giant furry mascot costume? Do referees have a WhatsApp group? What is it like to be a stadium announcer or a pie seller?
The programme will pick at the bones of some of the biggest questions, What would happen if Scotland actually won the world cup? Is it s***e supporting a team that win every week? Why don鈥檛 more Scottish players play abroad? What is it like as a young player to have the world at your feet and then 鈥榥ot make it鈥? Could a group of kids run Scottish Football?
It is a free-flowing yet tactically sound, silly but solid, jovial yet passionate look at football in Scotland. From the top of the pile to the hard-working lower leagues, from what happens on the pitch to what happens in between, it looks at the stars and the unheralded backroom stalwarts.
