The Flower and Produce Show

We delve into The Archers鈥 archive and it鈥檚 the day of the Flower and Produce Show, the most competitive date in the Ambridge calendar.

Three weeks of themed programmes from the last two decades reliving key moments from the characters鈥 lives and the events that make Ambridge unforgettable. This episode forms part of the third week when we take a look at five different occasions that mark unmissable dates in The Ambridge Calendar.

The Flower and Produce Show has always been one of the most competitive dates in The Ambridge year. Jill鈥榮 not happy with her Victoria Sponge but everyone鈥檚 surprised by the winner of the cake entries. Could there be foul play afoot? And in the photography category, Lynda has high hopes for her shots of village life. Jennifer has other things to worry about when Alice calls from Bestival.

It鈥檚 not the first time 鈥榗heating鈥 has occurred at the Flower and Produce Show. Way back in 1977 Doris Archer鈥檚 prize winning lemon curd came under suspicion, and there鈥檚 a long tradition of people being eliminated for not really understanding the rules 鈥 more recently Jim Lloyd was disqualified for using the wrong kind of twine to tie his onions together but that may have been a rule Joe Grundy made up in order to prevent Jim from winning!
