A service led by the Revd Canon Jenny Wigley, an Anglican Priest in Cardiff.
Today is Valentine鈥檚 Day named (for reasons obscured by the passage of time) after a third century Italian martyr. In the Christian calendar today is also known by a multitude of other different names; the Sunday before Lent, Transfiguration Sunday and Quinquagesima. We manage to mark all four! The readings from now until Easter chart Jesus鈥檚 journey to the cross and today鈥檚 gospel is the story of the transfiguration when Jesus took three of his disciples up a mountain to give a glimpse of his divine nature. In this service Jenny Wigley considers what the transfiguration has to say to us in the midst of a lockdown.
We cannot let the day pass without considering the true meaning of love. How do we keep our faith in God through these long months of a pandemic, and in the face of so much tragedy?
Hymns include 鈥楶raise to the Lord, the Almighty the King of creation鈥, 鈥楲ove divine all loves excelling鈥, 鈥楽hine Jesus, shine鈥 and 鈥楪od is love, his the care鈥.
The evening edition of the programme includes My Favourite Hymn.
