01/06/21 Ombudsman finds HS2 'dishonest', Open Farm Sunday, Britain's farm toys

We hear one farmer鈥檚 battle with HS2 high-speed rail, as the Parliamentary Ombudsman finds it 'dishonest'.

HS2 was 鈥渄ishonest, misleading and inconsistent鈥 when negotiating compensation with a farmer who had to move to make way for the new high-speed rail line. The Parliamentary Ombudsman service has just published its findings into complaints made by a family from a village near Lichfield, in Staffordshire. We hear about the farmer's 11 year "nightmare" battle with HS2 Ltd.
Open Farm Sunday, the industry鈥檚 annual throw open the farm gate day, had to go online last year, for obvious reasons. This year it鈥檚 back and organisers LEAF are encouraging farmers to get involved in a Covid safe way.
Britain's Farm Toys celebrates a hundred years of making farmyard toys this year. It all started when founder William Britain switched from toy soldiers to farming after the First World War. We speak to Britain鈥檚 most passionate collector who has fourteen hundred farmyard models.
