Chris tries to save the day, and Shula is left disappointed.

Shula apologises to Neil for her recent behaviour; she was frustrated with her broken arm and having to put her church placement on hold. Neil understands 鈥 they鈥檝e been friends for a long time, she can be herself with him. Shula notices something鈥檚 up, but when Neil expands on Shula鈥檚 disappointment, it鈥檚 about the memory box he鈥檚 making for Martha. Shula thinks it鈥檚 a lovely idea. Neil thanks Shula for saving Alice.

Exhausted Susan and Neil are on edge and Susan takes umbrage when Chris comments they鈥檙e like ships in the night. Chris wonders when they last had any relaxing time together.

Helen鈥檚 not around when Susan asks for some of her shifts back, but Pat says she鈥檚 sure Helen would bite her hand off. They鈥檝e missed Susan, even though Kirsty鈥檚 been doing a great job. When Pat says it can鈥檛 be easy having Martha, Susan says it鈥檚 busy, but she loves it. However, she admits tearfully that she thinks her and Neil are drifting apart, and Tracy鈥檚 noticed it too. There鈥檚 something coming between them. Pat suggests following Tracy鈥檚 advice, and finding some time just for the two of them. Later Chris surprises Neil and Susan; he鈥檚 chipped in with Emma and Tracy for dinner for two at Grey Gables. Susan confides to Neil that it makes her feel like everyone鈥檚 been gossiping about them. But Neil reckons that some time together might be just what they need.
