Kenton braces himself for disappointment and Lilian puts her plan into action.
Justin has ambitious plans for transforming the Stables into an elite, high-end, facility, but Lilian is more cautious. She tactically draws Justin’s attention to the collapse of several local luxury mega-stables. Justin’s impressed by Shula’s pitch. She’s focused on growing the core of the business while cleverly following Lilian’s suggestion to repeat back some of Justin’s buzzwords. Justin gives Shula a cautious yes. While he orders champagne, Shula thanks Lilian for her help. Lilian’s confident she knows how Justin’s mind works. They’ll get what they want for The Stables in the end.
The Bull’s Halloween celebrations are cancelled. Kenton’s worried that it’d be in poor taste to fill the place with coffins and zombies so soon after Bert actually died there. Justin questions the wisdom of this decision. The pub needs every customer it can get. Kenton admits to Toby that it’s likely to be a very slow night. Later, however, The Bull is filled with people playing old fashioned pub games and making a proper, traditional night of it. Even Justin has to admit that Kenton has pitched it perfectly. They agree with Toby’s suggestion that they should have games nights more often – a very fitting legacy for Bert.
