Chris is forced to let go and Ian hatches a plan.

Amy visits The Nest to find that Alice has settled a grizzling Martha but seems distracted. Amy鈥檚 worried 鈥 it鈥檚 a big step to live alone. Alice insists she鈥檚 looking forward to some independence. As she bends down to Martha again, she鈥檚 alarmed to notice spots on her neck. Amy鈥檚 sure it鈥檚 chickenpox, and give Alice advice on Martha鈥檚 care. Alice panics and calls Chris 鈥 she鈥檇 rather he looked after their poorly daughter. Chris confirms he鈥檒l take Martha after work, but when Amy and Alice get there Amy thinks Chris doesn鈥檛 look too great himself. He admits he鈥檚 feeling bad, and after looking at a rash on his stomach, Amy reckons it鈥檚 shingles. Chris agrees he鈥檒l see a doctor, and nervous Alice steps up to take care of Martha until he鈥檚 better.
Ian鈥檚 not impressed that Susan鈥檚 changed her mind about coming over for the evening. She鈥檚 such a busybody. Adam thinks being in Susan鈥檚 company will surprise Ian 鈥 there鈥檚 more to her than meets the eye. Ian鈥檚 heart sinks further when it becomes apparent she鈥檚 staying for dinner. But after some flattery from Susan Ian鈥檚 won over and expands on Adam鈥檚 gossip about Jean Harvey and Derek Fletcher, before they all share their secret Ambridge crush. Ian admits to Adam he was wrong about Susan. She鈥檚 a hoot. And it鈥檚 given him an idea for the Bull鈥檚 Valentine event too.
