11/04/23 Restoring temperate rainforests, blackcurrant research
We hear why an insurance company is paying millions to restore a temperate rainforest.
Think rainforest and you might think of the Amazon or Sumatra, but Britain has its own rare rainforest habitat, known as 鈥榯emperate rainforest鈥. The Wildlife Trusts are beginning an ambitious project to restore and create more of them, using 拢38 million of funding from the insurance company Aviva.
The impact of climate change on UK agriculture is something we often discuss on this programme, and many farmers are working closely alongside scientists to help prepare for the different growing conditions we鈥檙e likely to experience in future. We visit the James Hutton Institute to hear about the latest in blackcurrant research and breeding.
Presented by Caz Graham and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
