Talawa Stories: The Master鈥檚 House

The location is unknown, time doesn鈥檛 live here and, for the first time, the men are gone. But for how long? Four women trapped in The Master鈥檚 House work to plot their escape.

Talawa Stories from the UK鈥檚 outstanding Black Theatre Company presents a haunting and urgent tale that sees four women 鈥 stripped of their identities and renamed April, May, September and December 鈥 plot their escape from the master鈥檚 house and the violence of patriarchy.

The location is unknown; time doesn鈥檛 live here and, for the first time, the men are gone. But for how long?

This gripping thriller by writer and actor babriye bukilwa interrogates what would happen in a world absent of men, questioning the depths of internalised patriarchy, underpinned by themes of surveillance, rage within sisterhood, and the power of queer intimacy.
