Radio 2 Piano Room: Rick Astley

British pop icon Rick Astley joins Radio 2鈥檚 Piano Room today, performing from Maida Vale studios, accompanied by the 麻豆社 Concert Orchestra. Plus another round of Ten to The Top.

After entertaining millions of viewers on 麻豆社 One鈥檚 Rick Astley Rocks New Year鈥檚 Eve in 2023, his hugely successful appearance at Radio 2 in the Park 2023 in Leicester, and his recent Radio 2 presenting debut on Sounds of the 80s (which is available on 麻豆社 Sounds), Rick Astley is joining Radio 2鈥檚 Piano Room today, performing from Maida Vale studios, accompanied by the 麻豆社 Concert Orchestra.

Rick Astley says, 鈥淚鈥檓 so excited to do the Radio 2 Piano Room. It鈥檚 the perfect place to try something new and work with amazing musicians.鈥�

Also, poet John Cooper Clarke is Vernon鈥檚 guest this week on Tracks Of My Years. 鈥楾he Bard of Salford鈥� rose to prominence as a performance poet in the late 70s, performing alongside punk and post-punk acts like the Sex Pistols, Joy Division and Buzzcocks. He鈥檚 since released 7 albums, 2 poetry collections and performed his poetry in theatres and festivals the world over.

John鈥檚 latest poetry collection 鈥榃hat鈥� is released on 8th February and coincides with his 2024 national theatre tour celebrating 50 years of showbiz. The 鈥楪et Him While He鈥檚 Alive鈥� tour will see John performing all around the country, taking fans on a one-of-a-kind journey through poetry and comedy.

John's final two tracks are from The Ronettes & Them (featuring Van Morrison).
