Empowering New Mothers Through Creative Writing
In Glasgow鈥檚 West End, Catrin Kemp runs the New Mothers鈥 Writing Circle, a series of workshops that use poetry and prose to spark discussion and writing on all aspects of new motherhood.
Catrin Kemp started the New Mothers' Writing Circle in 2020, after struggling with her own mental health in early motherhood. Catrin鈥檚 eight-week course of themed writing workshops for new mums aims to centre the experience of the mother and her transformation in motherhood, as well as empowering women, building community and elevating the new mums鈥 voices.
New Mothers' alumni, and writer, Ishbel MacFarlane joins Catrin鈥檚 latest cohort of new mums, and their babies, in Glasgow鈥檚 West End as they draw on diverse narratives of motherhood, from Liz Berry to Toni Morrison, and share some of their writings from across the course.
