Alexandre Tharaud live at Wigmore Hall and chamber and orchestral music from Edinburgh and Glasgow

Today's Classical Live begins with a live recital from London's Wigmore Hall, featuring the French virtuoso pianist Alexandre Tharaud and a programme of Couperin and Satie, culminating in his own transcription of Ravel's gigantic waltz-fantasy La Valse.
There's music from the Elias Quartet, specially recorded for Classical Live at the Edinburgh New Town Concert Series and Debussy's evocative seascape, La Mer, performed by the 麻豆社 Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Glasgow. Plus - to mark Earth Day today, and then across the rest of the week - we showcase Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. And the progamme pays tribute to the conductor Sir Andrew Davis, who died this weekend, with music from the 麻豆社 Symphony Orchestra performing Elgar.
