Good morning. It鈥檚 9:14pm 鈥 I鈥檓 always last minute and I鈥檓 doing a mad dash to make the last entry at the gym. Phew, yes, I鈥檓 there 9:15, bang on.聽 But hold on, the door is locked! I鈥檓 certain I鈥檓 on time for the last entry! I was really looking forward to this workout鈥攊t鈥檚 become a key part of my self-care plan.
I鈥檝e been through a lot and I鈥檓 still navigating tough times. I鈥檝e learned to recognise when something feels unfair.
The following morning, I go in to see the manager. I鈥檝e missed a moment of wellbeing that鈥檚 invaluable.
The manager - hats off to him 鈥 he offered to replay the CCTV footage. And there it was: yep, 9:15pm, and I was nowhere to be seen. The attendant had locked up at the right time. I鈥檇 bungled my way to the door five minutes later at 9:20pm.聽
You know that moment when you think, Am I losing my mind 鈥 my sense of reality? I ask: can we see another angle?鈥攁nd there it was. The CCTV clock in the first instance was five minutes fast. I hadn鈥檛 been late after all.聽 It was a relief; an apology came instantly.
Sometimes, you have to be persistent and stand up for what you see to be right. The facts of a situation can be difficult to pin down, but it鈥檚 important to be open to seeing a different perspective, particularly when much greater matters than a gym session are at stake.
My Lord, make us steadfast in pursuing the truth in life鈥檚 significant moments. Open for us the resources and light to endure the adversity that often comes in that pursuit, and please my Lord let truth and justice prevail. Amin.聽
