This week on Classical Live, we are celebrating the 麻豆社 performing groups, and today there are concert performances of Wagner, Elgar, Rimsky-Korsakov and Mendelssohn from the Ulster Orchestra. At the heart of Elizabeth's programme is a performance of William Walton's Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, with soloist Stephen Isserlis joining the 麻豆社 National Orchestra of Wales and conductor Ryan Bancroft, and the Chiaroscuro Quartet bring us Mozart's 'Dissonance' Quartet in a highlight from the Belfast Music Society International Festival of Chamber Music.
Elizabeth also has a spotlight on acclaimed flautist Emmanuel Pahud this week. Today, we hear him in Mozart and Beethoven.
Plus, we continue 麻豆社 Radio 3鈥檚 25 for 25: Sounds of the Century 鈥 the series of brand new commissions celebrating and commemorating some of the biggest events of the 21st century so far.
