Kathryn Tickell presents a session from Kurdish-Alevi singer and songwriter Olcay Bayir ahead of her upcoming performance at the Songlines Encounters Festival. Performing songs from her new album Tu Gul卯 (You are a Rose), Bayir weaves Anatolian roots with the rich musical soundscapes of her adopted home 鈥� London. Plus, new music from Kenyan percussionist Kasiva Mutua, whose music honours African identity, resilience and heritage, and a cherished classic from folk legend Shirley Collins as her 1959 debut Sweet England is reissued in celebration of her 90th birthday.
