Denis Kozhukhin plays Rachmaninov from Glasgow
Pianist Denis Kozhukhin and conductor Matthias Pintscher join the 麻豆社 SSO for music by Rachmaninov and Schoenberg, plus recent works by the conductor himself and Ricardo Ferro.
Rachmaninov's sweeping Fourth Piano Concerto performed by Denis Kozhukhin is the centrepiece of a concert that opens with Matthias Pintscher conducting something new and powerful from his student Ricardo Ferro plus a piece of his own music. After the interval, we plunge into the deliriously Romantic world of Schoenberg鈥檚 Pell茅as und M茅lisande - a lush orchestral saga of doomed love which drove audiences wild in Mahler鈥檚 Vienna when it premiered in 1905.
