Donald Macleod explores Beethoven鈥檚 endeavours to become the guardian of his brother鈥檚 son Karl - a relationship which from the start was built upon rocky foundations. Today he follows Beethoven's actions following the death of his brother Caspar Carl, and investigates why Beethoven sought to remove his nephew from the care of his surviving parent, Johanna.
