Denmark 1629. A young English lutenist - Peter Claire - who looks like an angel, arrives to play for King Christian at the Palace of Rosenborg.

Peter and the other musicians practice in a field , where he Peter falls for Emilia Tilsen, who works for the King's greedy and unfaithful consort Kirsten.
