'Wellies or Rain boots?'
Sean says no-one ever spoke about 鈥榳ellies鈥 when he was growing up鈥攐nly water boots.
鈥淵ou are reminding me of going round the dances in the 1960s,鈥 says William, in Carryduff. Sean has been asking if people spoke about 鈥榳ellies鈥 or 鈥榳ater boots鈥 when they were younger. 鈥淚 was looking for a wife,鈥 says William, who鈥檚 from farming stock. 鈥淚 wanted a girl with the Wellington marks on the backs of her legs. Then you'd know she was a good worker!鈥
鈥淚 remember the mark on your leg from the water boots,鈥 Sean says. 鈥淏ut no girl ever spotted it or ever asked me about it.鈥
