Night-time darkness and blazing musical sunlight collide in Mahler鈥檚 Symphony No. 7 鈥� a musical epic that packs the whole world into five contrasting movements. Vast orchestral forces 鈥� including mandolin, cowbells and guitar 鈥� conjure a shifting landscape of waltzes, serenades, fanfares, marches and mysterious 鈥榥ight-wandering鈥� 鈥� by turns romantic and humorous, sardonic and sincere. To open, John Storg氓rds conducts the 麻豆社 Philharmonic Orchestra and tenor Allan Clayton in the world premiere of award-winning composer Tom Coult鈥檚 Monologues for the Curious, inspired by the ghost stories of M. R. James.
