Many of the four million people who visit Eryri each year head for the area鈥檚 most famous hotspots, like Yr Wyddfa, or Snowdon - Wales and England鈥檚 highest peak. In this episode, an August bank holiday weekend means visitors are out in their droves, so it鈥檚 no surprise when a call for help comes in. A woman has suffered head and back injuries after falling 20 feet from a popular walking route. She鈥檚 in severe pain - so mountain rescue and the coastguard helicopter must battle the crowds to get her to hospital as quickly as possible.
When the sun comes out, visitors also flock to Eryri鈥檚 spectacular coastline. At the popular beach destination of Bermo, or Barmouth, coastguard volunteers are gearing up for a busy day - and when a child goes missing by the water, there鈥檚 no time to lose.
Eryri鈥檚 rivers, gorges and waterfalls are also a magnet for people keen to cool off. But rescues here need teams with a highly specialised skill set. A 24-year-old man is badly injured after jumping in the river near tourist hotspot Betws y Coed. With the coastguard helicopter unable to winch down to him and other mountain rescue team members already tied up on call-outs, a small group of six must use all their experience to move the casualty, in a stretcher, across the fast-flowing river.
