Hannah French presents the second of two programmes from mezzo-soprano Helen Charlston and lutenist Toby Carr at the recent York Early Music Festival, in which they explore music associated with Heaven and Hell.
Today, Hannah chats to Toby about all things hellish, and we'll hear music by Charpentier, Purcell, Kapsperger, Carissimi, Monteverdi and Pelham Humfrey. There's also the world premiere of a new piece by Anna Disley-Simpson, called "Purgatory: A Waiting Room".
