Episode 3

Macaulay returns with a pay rise, but the trust is gone. As police close in, so does paranoia, and the truth about addiction to steroids is exposed.

Macaulay is out. Furious at discovering the scale of the money being made behind his back, he walks away from the operation. For 18 months, he鈥檚 been running the lab, cooking up thousands of vials a week. He thought he and his dad were equal partners. Turns out he was just on a wage.

This final episode picks up with Macaulay in exile: angry and betrayed. He sends his dad a message: he鈥檚 not coming back unless he gets four times the pay. And, surprisingly, Andrew folds. He knows he can鈥檛 run this without his son. The business might be illegal, but it runs on trust. And right now, that trust is paper-thin.

Macaulay comes back, this time with more money and more control. But just as they settle back into business, the police investigation takes a leap forward. The arrest of the distributor has led them to the dog groomers: a business being used to receive industrial quantities of steroid equipment.

One shipment of 20,000 empty vials is addressed to a man called Zsolt Kosma. The name looks fake, but analysts uncover bank records tied to it, with over 拢235k moving through in a single year. The identity turns out to be stolen - from a real Hungarian bodybuilder who has no idea his name is being used to launder steroid money in North Wales.

The deeper the analysts dig, the closer they get to the core of the operation. Telecoms data reveals a common thread: Andrew Dodd鈥檚 number is all over the network. It鈥檚 a breakthrough. As the police start closing in, paranoia begins to take hold.

Macaulay, wired on steroids, becomes convinced they鈥檙e being watched. He thinks the neighbours are undercover officers. He can鈥檛 sleep. He鈥檚 convinced someone鈥檚 moved into the house opposite to spy on them. Whether it鈥檚 true or not almost doesn鈥檛 matter - he鈥檚 losing his grip.

We hear from steroid users who can鈥檛 stop, even after their health collapses. The drugs are physically addictive - mentally even more so. Lose the steroids, lose your body and ultimately your identity as a big man. Macaulay doesn鈥檛 know how to stop.

Macaulay and Andrew鈥檚 fractious relationship continues to cause problems, and once the police knock on the door, there鈥檚 one last betrayal. Will they ever recover from this?
