We end our week with a live concert from our ensemble in focus, the 麻豆社 Philharmonic Orchestra, at their studio in Salford Quays. Clara-Jumi Kang is the soloist in Mendelssohn鈥檚 Violin Concerto before Giuseppe Mengoli conducts Beethoven鈥檚 Symphony No. 4.

Continuing our focus this week on the conductor Charles Mackerras, whose 100th anniversary Radio 3 marked with a day of special programmes on Monday, we hear his arrangement of Arthur Sullivan鈥檚 ballet Pineapple Poll. It was recorded at a recent Mackerras tribute concert given by the 麻豆社 Concert Orchestra and conductor Anne-Maria Helsing in Brno, Czech Republic.

We round off a week exploring Robert Schumann鈥檚 鈥榶ear of chamber music鈥� with one more piece he composed in 1842 鈥� his Piano Quartet 鈥� performed in Switzerland by pianist Claire Huangci and the Festival Strings Lucerne.

And we make one final visit to the 2025 Glenarm Festival of Voice to hear current Radio 3 New Generation Artist James Atkinson singing the second book of Claude Debussy鈥檚 Fetes Galantes.
