The Launch of Yarns 5, Bandie the Children’s book and the Scottish Makar
The Launch of Yarns 5 in Ballyclare, Bandie the Children’s book and the Scottish Makar.
Helen Mark presents Â鶹Éç Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine show this week alongside Jonnie Crawford, Rab Lennox and Willie Hill.
This week. Rab is in Ballycastle at the launch of Yarns – a wonderful collection of poetry and prose by new and established writers. Helen catches up with Pà draig MacAoidh – the The Scottish ‘Makar’ – or national poet. The two discuss – amongst other things – ideas for taking the ‘Maker’ model and using it for the continued promotion of the Ulster-Scot leid in Northern Ireland. Meanwhile, Willie learns about ‘Bandie’ a new children’s book starring a cartoon drum - promoting both Ulster-Scots and band culture in this part of the world.
As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk.
