The Welsh Government has agreed a budget deal with Plaid Cymru, after committing to setting aside more money for local councils and health services. It means the Labour Government - which currently does not have a majority in the Senedd - will avoid defeat when its 拢27bn budget goes to a vote in January. Under the deal, there will be 拢113m additional funding for local government, with council budgets increased overall by 4.5% next year. All 22 councils will receive cash increases worth 4% or more. The UK Government aims to bring all passenger rail services under public ownership by 2027, with the aim of creating a more integrated, efficient, and reliable system. These include train services crossing the border between Wales and England. However Transport for Wales will remain a Welsh Government-owned entity.
