It鈥檚 Raining Cats and Goats
It鈥檚 a new trip with antiques experts Charles Hanson and Roo Irvine. Follow their adventure around Lincolnshire.
We鈥檙e living it up in Lincolnshire for the second leg of the trip with auctioneer Charles Hanson and sparkly dealer Roo Irvine. This time, Roo is behind the wheel of the 1970s VW camper van, and let鈥檚 just say, Charles is a bit of a backseat driver. Armed with 400 smackers each, they will battle it out at auction, and whoever wins the most out of five will be declared the road trip champ.
Amongst the many delights Charles collects is a Victorian two-piece dress and a late-18th-century oak panel featuring a goat that reminds him of Wobbly, his childhood pet. Roo breaks away from her usual collection of jewelled delights and opts for a Murano glass bowl and a large leather horse. Giddy up. Roo also delights in checking out a cat cafe in Lincoln, while Charles is off to another realm at the city鈥檚 castle. Over 1,000 years ago, a game-changing decree opened the land to the people. The patches of green that we can freely roam today would not exist if it were not for a nine-year-old king in the 13th century. And we must not forget that there is an auction to try to win.
