Don't Mention the 'D' Word!

A move from a historic farmhouse sparks a heartfelt clear-out, with Lauren and JB restoring heirlooms and uncovering buried treasure for a rocking auction.

Susan moved into a 300-year-old farmhouse in a charming Yorkshire village back in 1995 with her husband Russell and their young son. Sadly, after many happy years in the house, Russell became seriously ill. He passed away 14 years ago, but Susan is still finding it hard to come to terms with her loss. Out of respect for his memory and through sheer dogged determination, she鈥檚 kept this huge sprawling house going in the years since. Susan won鈥檛 use the 鈥楧鈥 word 鈥 downsizing 鈥 but she has decided it鈥檚 time to start a new chapter in her life and move to a more manageable home.

As Susan's new place won鈥檛 hold all the antique and eclectic items she鈥檚 amassed over the years, it鈥檚 time for a clear-out. JB and Lauren have come to help her find the best items to go to auction and fix up a few heirlooms, giving them the best chance of finding a new home. With such a big property, it will be all hands on deck to sort through everything, so Susan鈥檚 also enlisted her good friend Fiona to help out. Any money made at the auction will go towards something special for Susan鈥檚 new place, but most importantly, the clear-out will help Susan take the next steps in her journey of moving on.

Lauren begins restoring a large garden rocking chair that's currently unusable. She tackles a wobbly table and works her magic on a sweet pair of items from Russell鈥檚 childhood.

JB also has his work cut out, working his way through the multitude of rooms, as well as unearthing buried treasure from the corner of the garden. There鈥檚 also an outbuilding that may contain an auction-worthy antique, but he鈥檒l have to brave its eight-legged inhabitants to find it.
With a host of interesting objects and fixed-up finds, all signs point to a rocking good auction.
