Ballet on the Braes
Kate Molleson and Dr John Purser trace Chisholm鈥檚 ventures into ballet, and his wartime travels.
Kate Molleson, with Dr John Purser, follows Chisholm鈥檚 leap from opera to ballet 鈥� from the Celtic Ballet and The Forsaken Mermaid to his symphonic ballet The Earth Shapers. Against a backdrop of political upheaval and wartime austerity, we hear how Chisholm kept music alive, from painting streets with secret staves, to staging lecture-recitals for soldiers, and how his wanderlust led him towards India and beyond.
