Live Saharan blues with Daara Tribes
Lopa Kothari takes us on a journey across dunes and oases with a live set from Daara Tribes, recorded at Hootenanny, London. Plus, new music from Airelle Besson and Lionel Suarez.
To brighten up this wintery evening, Lopa Kothari takes us on a journey across dunes and oases with a special extract from a recent live performance of Moroccan band Daara Tribes recorded at Hootenanny, in London. Since 2013, the group has been making music that blends Saharan blues influences with Amazigh traditional music.
Elsewhere in the show, lots of new music including tracks from French duo of trumpet player Airelle Besson and accordionist Lionel Suarez, Soweto鈥檚 supergroup BCUC, and Fi谩rock, a traditional Irish band with members both from Ireland, Mexico, and the United States.
