The 麻豆社 National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales and conductor Micha艂 Nesterowicz perform Poulenc's Gloria. On either side of this exuberant work, the Orchestra perform G贸recki's Three Pieces in Old Style, and Dvor谩k's 8th Symphony.

Polish conductor Micha艂 Nesterowicz makes his debut with the 麻豆社 National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales in a concert steeped in the past and in nature. The concert begins with G贸recki's Three Pieces in Old Style, a work which is stylistically saturated with the music of the renaissance and marked the beginning of a more simple and evocative style for the Polish Composer. Before the interval, the 麻豆社 National Chorus of Wales and soprano soloist Sophie Bevan join the Orchestra to perform Poulenc's exuberant Gloria, a work which reimagines the sacred text for modern times. Poulenc wrote the Gloria in the "Vivaldi style", but infused it with his own unique sound of 1960s Paris. The concert finishes with Dvor谩k's 8th symphony, a joyous work which revels in the joys of nature.
