Moya Brennan

Moya Brennan in conversation in 2024.

Legendary Irish singer Moya Brennan died this week at the age of 73. Moya鈥檚 impact on Irish music was seismic. Along with Clannad, she helped to shape a new sound world for Irish music, one which saw the adaptation of Irish traditional song blended with haunting, tightly layered Beach Boys-esque harmonies, electronics and the Irish language. Her voice was it鈥檚 signature sound. The result was music that felt intensely visual and evoked the landscapes of Co Donegal. In this episode, Stephen replays an interview he did with Moya Brennan in 2024 in which she discusses the timeless nature of Clannad鈥檚 music, the construction of their iconic 鈥淭heme From Harry鈥檚 Game鈥 and her collaboration with production duo Elma Orkestra and Ryan Vail.
