Series 3

Episode 3 of 5

1916: With Bruce in America, Edith and Aylmer are looking forward to their wedding in a month's time. Starring Juliet Aubrey.

Summer 1916 - and the Little Ottleys, as that fine-looking yet tall couple had been known - are a couple no longer......

Continuing Ada Leverson's witty social comedy set in early 20th century London.

Bruce Ottley headed off to America with widow Madame Frabelle. But he found life with her to be less than idyllic, and decides to return to England. However, his wife Edith, is all set to marry the love of her life - Aylmer Ross. She takes pity on her former husband who now cuts rather a pathetic figure, and allows him into the spare room. How on earth can she tell Aylmer?

Dramatised by Martyn Wade, taken from three short novels written by Ada Leverson between 1908 and 1916. The novels are 'Love's Shadow', 'Tenterhooks' and 'Love At Second Sight' but in 1962 they were grouped together under the title of 'The Little Ottleys'.
