The Intertidal Zone
Adam Walton explores life in the intertidal zone.
Adam Walton sits down with Artist, Author and Marine Biologist, Dr Ruth Searle, to discuss her latest book 'The Intertidal Zone: Life on the Edge'.
Intertidal zones are areas of coastline that are submerged during high tide and exposed to the air during low tide, existing between the highest high tide mark and the lowest low tide mark. Ruth describes this zone as a rich, diverse and fragile environment that needs our attention in the wake of climate change. Plus, she tells us about her varied life and career, from her time as a midwife to writing international best-selling thrillers.
We also hear from Aberystwyth University's Dr David Wilcockson, whose research explores the biological clocks of intertidal organisms.
Produced by Stuart Russell.
