Episode 6

Episode 6 of 15

A double fatal shooting leads to an island-wide search for evidence, an elderly man has collapsed on the roadside, and a makeshift machete is found amongst squatters' belongings.

Following a rare double fatal shooting in the capital, Hamilton, detectives believe a stolen motorcycle was used in the attack, triggering an urgent search of the territory, with officers working against the clock. On a small island, the suspects can’t go far, and the evidence must be somewhere.

PC James Adams, PC Jonathan Flood and PC Bryden Pedro comb through brushland, empty buildings and narrow tracks. It's tough work with false sightings. Can they find the evidence while battling incoming rain that could wash away vital forensic clues?

Late on the second day of the investigation, there’s a breakthrough. PC Jonathan spots a bike concealed off a tight footpath, and it matches key features of the suspected getaway vehicle. With the route to the site blocked off, and a tricky locked gate to get through, the officers work to secure the area. Forensics are on site to document and preserve the scene, with PC Robin MacNab and sniffer dog Roni conducting further searches. Can senior officers use the discovery to crack the case?

Across the island, PCs Adam Thompson and Ogilbie Morgan respond to reports of an elderly man collapsed in the road. As traffic builds, PC Ogilbie secures the scene while Adam calls for medical assistance. Confused and vulnerable, the man, who has dementia, is reassured by the officers as they work to understand what has happened and make sure he receives the care he needs.

Later, the pair are called to a derelict property after reports of trespassers. As they help secure the site to prevent squatters moving in, a further search of the building uncovers something unexpected – a makeshift machete hidden among the debris.
