Three hours of classical sparkle

Join Sarah Walker for a colourful Sunday mix, from pastoral landscapes and Renaissance choral music to Russian orchestral drama and moments of reflection.

This week, Sarah Walker鈥檚 playlist takes in gardens, forests and wide open landscapes, with music inspired by the natural world and the changing seasons.

There鈥檚 French elegance from Mel Bonis, Beethoven鈥檚 much-loved Pastoral Symphony, and Percy Grainger鈥檚 irrepressible Country Gardens.

Sarah also heads to Renaissance Italy for this week鈥檚 Choral Reflection, with a motet by Palestrina sung by one of the UK鈥檚 most revered choral ensembles, The Tallis Scholars.

Elsewhere, there鈥檚 sunny Mozart with his Piano Concerto No. 23, while Rimsky-Korsakov鈥檚 Flight of the Bumblebee buzzes into view ahead of the morning鈥檚 centrepiece: Tchaikovsky鈥檚 richly melodic 鈥楲ittle Russian鈥 Symphony.

Plus, Sibelius ventures deep into the shadowy world of Finnish legend with music from the Lemmink盲inen Suite.

A Tandem Production for 麻豆社 Radio 3.
