Cerys hosts your Sunday social and cultural adventure with Kamasi Washington, ahead of his Jazz Legends Reimagined show, and Daniel Mulhall, talking about James Joyce's novel Ulysses ahead of 'Bloomsday'.
Kamasi Washington is a saxophonist, composer and bandleader whose expansive, spiritual sound has made him one of the defining figures in contemporary jazz. He's playing at the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall today for Jazz Legends Reimagined, paying tribute to John Coltrane and Miles Davis in celebration of what would have been their 100th birthdays.
Bloomsday takes place every year on 16 June and celebrates the life and work of James Joyce. The day commemorates the events of Joyce's novel Ulysses, which takes place over a single day in Dublin: 16 June 1904. Daniel Mulhall is a former Irish diplomat, author and commentator on Irish literature. He is a longstanding advocate for the work of James Joyce and a regular contributor to Bloomsday events in Ireland and internationally.
