On solstice night, Elizabeth Alker offers up ambient and experimental sounds from today's new crop of genre-defying artists. We'll hear from emerging independent producers whose work plays with orchestral textures and classical form as well as the latest sounds from a new generation of contemporary composers who look to embrace the spirit of rock, pop and electronica.
This week: expansive dance-pop sounds from Iceland's Janus Rasmussen; a new collaboration between Mariam Wallentin and the West Norwegian Jazz Ensemble; and New York-based Frances Chang's delicate poetry settings.
