Summer breeze… with Zakia

Join Zakia as she brings in a rather auspicious moment in the year, when the sun stands still in its movement along the horizon, with sun-soaked selections and psychedelia.

DJ, broadcaster, writer and dreamer Zakia Sewell provides the soundtrack to your dreams - playing music to ease the mind, soothe the soul and open portals to new dimensions.

Join Zakia as she brings in a rather auspicious moment in the year, solstice, when the sun stands still in its movement along the horizon. Zakia celebrates the first day of summer, the shortest night of the year, and the longest day, with sun-soaked selections, songs bidding for an embrace of nature, and plenty of psychedelia. There’ll be a zen buddhist cowboy song courtesy of Robbie Basho, tripped-out poetry from someone who many consider to be the original hippy, a free jazz ode to sun-dancing, plus new music from Sharada Shashidhar, BCMC and Kirk Barley.

Inspired by the idea of getting back to nature and living with the cyclical rhythms of the sun, we’re joined by helllhound, who have recently released an album inspired by their escape from the bustling city of LA to a Californian mountain village in the Sierra National Forest. They tell us about their dreams, their solstice plans, and the making of their new album.
